How to treat Varicose Veins

Last Summer, when most of the people wore short, I saw most of them have varicose veins specially women. I am in my early 30's and I dont want to have it but I heard that wearing high heels all the time can cause varicose veins.

Varicose veins are dilated, gnarly leg veins that aren't limited to women. Men get them too, but women with varicose veins outnumber men. You got them like most people get them. There's a strong family influence in coming down with varicosities. Pregnancy, jobs where people must be on their feet for long times and obesity are other factores that generate such veins. Taller people have them more frequently than shorter folks.

The basic problem is faulty vein valves. Veins are equipped with valves that close shut as blood passes by to keep it form falling back down. If leg-vein valves aren't working, blood does falls back down, and it stagnates in the legs and dilates the veins, causing them to balloon.

You can do some things on your own to improve the situation. Take a couple of breaks during the day when you can lie down with your legs raised above heart level. Compression stockings keep blood flowing upward in leg veins. The best are ones that are specially fitted for your legs and that have more compression at ankle level than at thigh level.

Removal techniques are many. You ask about sclerotheraphy. In that procedure, a solution that irritates the veins' inner lining is injected into them. The lining sticks to itself, and the vein collapses. It's not used for all veins. It doesn't work well for very large ones. Catheter ablation is another newer technique where a thin, flexible tube-a catheter- is threaded into the veins. The catheter has a probe that emits radio waves that heat the lining and cause the vein to shrivel. The menu for varicose-vein treatment is large, this is only a small sample of what can be done.

Chapped lips during cold and dry weather

I dont like cold weather because it makes my lips chapped all the time. I tried a lot of lip cream to make it moisture but after that my lips skin is peeling and it kinda hurt sometimes.
When I was shopping online about lip balm or lip cream, I saw that Burt's lip balm got a lot of good reviews so I bought one for me. It really a good product and it make my lip soft and moisture. I always have it in my pocket everytime we go out.
But I realized that it is not applying lip balm that will make our lip moist during cold and dry weather that we should also select a lip-protection product that contains sun screen. We should not lick our lips which I usually do because saliva evaporates quickly and can leave lips drier than before. We should also avoid those flavored lip balm that can aslo tempt us to lick our lips.
We should not forget to drink plenty of fluids everyday. Dehydration can contribute to chapped and dry lips.
During winter, lets keep our indoor air at home moist by using humidifier.
So aside from wearing thick jacket, scarf and gloves when we go out during winter, we should not also forget to bring our lip balm with us.

Planning to give Gift Cards??

Image: Lego Gift Card

Black Friday was the start of holiday shopping but some people dont have much time to go shopping because they are busy with their work. So instead going to the store and buy gifts they just buy gift cards. If you are one of them who are just thinking to give Gift Cards, here's what you need to know. Gift Cards are hugely popular. These cards may be an easy way to reduce the stress of holiday shopping, but they often work better for the donor than for the recepient. Stores promote gift cards because the recipient often uses the card to make a large purchase like using the $100 gift card to buy something that costs $150. The seller is even happier when the recipient spends less than the card is worth and never uses the remaining balance. To make the cards even more appealing, some sellers let you personalize their cards with your name or putting the recipients name.

Gift cards are a quick, easy purchase for someone you dont know very well or someone who is hard to please. There's no need to figure out what they wants or to worry about buying the wrong size or color. They can use the card to choose their own gift and go shopping when it suits them.

Before buying a gift card, make sure if there are any charges that would reduce the value of the gift. If you decide to buy it, get that information in writing. It's always a mistakes to buy a card with a maintenance fee or an expiration date.

Malibu Fire AGAIN!

Several homes have been destroyed this morning by a wildfire that spread rapidly through the canyons and hills above Malibu as dozens of residents once again scrambled to evacuate as flames approached.

TV images showed some homes nestled in the hills consumed by the blaze. Fire officials confirmed several homes were destroyed but couldn’t give an exact number.
The blaze fueled by dry Santa Ana winds began shortly before 3:30 a.m. and burned about 400 acres in an area south of Malibu Lake on state park land, said Los Angeles County fire Capt. Mike Brown.

Roughly 100 homes in three separate communities were evacuated, Brown said.
The blaze was blowing downhill toward the Pacific Ocean. About 200 firefighters were on scene and aided by four water-dropping helicopters. No injuries have been reported.
Hundreds of firefighters were placed on wildfire watch this weekend as Santa Ana winds returned to Southern California. Gusts were reported up to 60 mph in some mountain passes overnight.

"It was pretty windy in this area," Brown said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Downed power lines were responsible for last month’s 4,565-acre Canyon Fire in Malibu that destroyed six homes, two businesses and a church. That fire also began during the early morning hours and forced dozens of people to leave their homes.
It was first of several major October firestorms that burned thousands of acres across Southern California, including in the San Bernardino Mountains where a pair of forest fires destroyed 451 homes and forced evacuations of thousands of residents from Crestline to Arrowbear.

Black Friday - The BIG SALE!!!

I asked my husband if we can get a new digital camera because I broke my Canon camera last Independence day and his old Nikon camera need an upgrade and he told me to wait for Black Friday because it is the best time to buy electronic stuffs because they will be on sale.

Black friday is the day after thanksgiving, where almost all stores imaginable have huge sales so people can do their traditional christmas shopping. It is called Black Friday because in the sales world, black marks mean profit and red marks mean loss. They make LOTS of profits on Black Friday. Black Friday is not an official holiday, but many employers give the day off, allowing consumers to get a head start on their Christmas shopping. Retailers often decorate for the Christmas season weeks beforehand. Many retailers open very early (typically 5 A.M.) and offer doorbuster deals and loss leaders to draw people to their stores. As supplies on deeply discounted goods are often limited by retailers, "doorbuster" sales are common on a Black Friday. The shoppers who arrive early to line up closest to the store's front doors are the only ones sure to be able to purchase the advertised bargains if the store runs out or those who are first 300 or 500 who arrived at the store. To help compensate for this, most stores try to have as many of each item as possible and/or mention the number available/ Some stores also give out incentive prizes to those in line such as gift cards good for free merchandise in the store to the first hundred or more shoppers.

Stores to check during Black Friday are:
9. Malls near you
So I can't wait to experience this Black Friday and get ready with our shopping bag!

How to make your Thanksgiving special?

Oprah.com -- Thanksgiving is just around the corner! This year, remember the real meaning of giving thanks for everything (and everyone) that's right in your life with these wonderful ideas to celebrate your family.
Sandra Magsamen, author "Living Artfully," says that Thanksgiving is a day to acknowledge and express how grateful we are for all that we have. "It's a time to stop, honor, and reflect on the abundance, prosperity, people and lives we are blessed with."
Here are her ideas for how you can celebrate your loved ones this Thanksgiving.
1. Give each guest at your holiday gathering a guest book with their name on it. Pass the books around so each guest can write at least one reason they appreciate the person whose name is on the cover. Sandra says when she did this at her holiday party some quests laughed at first. "Then, as if by magic, each small volume became filled with heartfelt messages. When the evening was over, every person left with a keepsake that recorded the many ways he or she was indeed special."
2. For families that are scattered all over the country, getting together at Thanksgiving can be wonderful -- but reconnecting can be difficult. An artful activity that can spark conversations is the "getting to know you" game.
Make little paper cards with serious and silly questions on them like, "Who would play you in a movie about your life," or "What is the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?"
Throughout dinner, everyone around the table can answer the questions! "We laugh, tell stories, reveal truths and yes, even shed a tear or two," Sandra says. "It's a fun, artful and a wonderful way to share ourselves with the people we are grateful for."
3. Gratitude box is a wonderful gift to make for someone. Sandra says all you have to do is write things you appreciate about someone on slips of paper. You can write things like, "I am grateful for your ... smile, the sound of our voice, your hugs, etc."
You can write as many "gratitudes" as you feel in your heart and place them in a little box or a velvet bag. Then, present it as a unique and heartfelt gift of appreciation and love

4. Thankfully, one person does not have to be responsible for the entire Thanksgiving meal, Sandra says. Divide the menu up among friends and family! The person hosting the event can bake, grill, or deep-fry the turkey or ham, and everyone else can bring the rest.
"You'll love how easy, delicious, and stress-free the holiday can be when it is a group effort," Sandra says. "The host can actually enjoy the guests, dinner, a cup of coffee and piece of pie -- and be thankful she didn't have to do it herself!"

Bushpig - The next extreme sport?

My husband have been checking the Cycle Trader for many months now because he wants to buy a 2007 KTM as gift for himself this Christmas then this morning, he told me that he knows what he wants already and he showed me this small bike which is called Bushpig in a magazine. We agreed that it will be nice to use at the ranch and he said, many years from now, it will be another sport like bike racing.

If man could have been made in more than one piece, he would have definitely had wheels rather than feet.

Staying fit during the holiday party

I like to eat a lot during Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year Holiday because every party we go to, there are lots of food to choose from. I see to it that I have a piece of all the menu on the table so that I know what is taste good and what is not. But after those party and eating a lot, I cant help not to gain weight because for all of us holiday season is a special time of year. But it is also a time of year when many people gain unwanted weight. However, you don't have to gain the standard holiday pounds. With a little foresight and planning you can avoid putting on extra weight during the holidays. Here are some tips to help you stay in shape during the holiday season.

1. When you attend a party, use a small plate they have so that you can only fill your plate as little as possible and in that way, you will not eat too much. Also before you go to the party, you can eat some snack bar at home so that when you are at your friend's party, you still have the feeling of fullness.

2. Dont drink too much alcohol. As much as possible avoid them. We know that alcohol contains lots of calories per servings. If you drink too much you may end up with a hangover and/or feel drained and fatigued. If you feel like drinking, get some water with lemon..good for your health.

3. When you go out for holiday meals, don't fill your plate up with high calorie foods first. Instead, start with low-fat, healthier choices such as salads and vegetable dishes. Then move on to other options such as fish, skinless chicken, grilled meats and whole-grains. Foods such as these are more filling and, in the end, if you decide to have a slice of cake or something like this, you're less likely to over-indulge.

4. When people go to the party, sometimes, they tend to eat more than talking or just hanging out with people that you they are spending with. Take your time, have fun and memorable time with them rather than with food.

5. Whether it's before, during or after the holidays, research shows that the main reason for weight gain is lack of activities. So if you are at home, you can do some exercise at home or have fun doing outside activities like hiking, biking, swimming, walking or walking out with your dogs and family.

6. Then get adequate sleep. Make sure that we give ourself a good night rest everyday.

Future jobs of the country...

Through the years there have been a number of efforts aimed at revitalizing low-income areas of the country. The newest initiative involves the introduction of green collar jobs to areas that are impoverished or need a financial push. The goal is that these jobs will provide a path for economic and social recovery in such areas.

Image: Shoe repair by shawn.I

Green-collar jobs are essentially blue-collar jobs that involve working with environmentally friendly services or products. It includes a construction team working on a environmentally friendly building, or manufacturing of such items as solar panels, or long-life lights bulbs. Even producers of walking shoes or bicycle repair shops can be seen as "green" jobs because they're promoting activities that don't negatively impack the environment.

According to reseach, the green movement is big business. Currently, "green" is the 5th largest sector of the market in the United States alone. Economists predict that "green" may be able to provide the economic revitalization that certain areas need.

Image: Installation by Greenery

Green-collar jobs represent an option for workers in a time when many blue-collar jobs are evaporated or being handled overseas. What's more, generally green-collar jobs are local jobs. This means that in the communities and workers doing "green" good are not only benefitting from a stable job, they're seeing money stay in the community. Also, the trickle-down effect of green-collar work is that the environment in these communities can also be improved through sustainable practices and other "green" employment. It is widely believed that you can't outsource a green job, and a green job doesn't take a toll on public health. Green-collar jobs can also give workers the opportunity to learn new skills and become marketable outside of their local communities. Green jobs require a specialized skill set. This gives workers who have been pushed out of the economic pool and opportunity to acquire new skills and be extremely marketable for jobs in the new clean and green economy. The environment and "green" movement may be more than just a platform for politicians as we approach the 2008 elections. Green could be the answer for the millions of people who are looking to re-enter the workforce in a viable way.

Protect yourself against Identity theft

Holiday Shopping Stress Free

We know that most of us really enjoy the holiday seasons like Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year because there are lots of discounts, coupons and sales during this time but shopping is stressing too. It is not easy to just shop around to look for gifts for your loved ones and you have to go to one store to another to get that perfect gifts for them and before you know it, you were already tired and stress. This year, you can make it a point to enjoy the holidays more by simplifying some of the work, while maintaining what makes the holidays special- the love.

Here's How:
- First you must know how far you can go with your budget. Much of the stress of the holiday season comes from feeling pressured to buy bigger and better gifts for those we love, even if this puts us in debt! While we may feel compelled to show how much we love people by showing how much we can spend, our loved ones would probably feel terrible if they knew we put ourselves in debt on their behalf. This year, determine what you can comfortably spend, take down your budget and stick with it. Gifts shouldn't have to be expensive, but the thoughts thats count.

- Sit down and make a lit of all the things that you wish to buy. List all the people you’d like to buy gifts for, and divide your budget among them in whatever way makes sense to you. Then, next to their names, list what you’d like to get each person. You can use this as a checklist, so you’ll know who you’ve bought gifts for and who still needs a gift, and you’ll be less likely to spend too much on impulse buys, or buy duplicate gifts, etc.

-As much as possible try to go to only to one store so that you dont have to transfer from one store to another . You can look down your list of items and see how many things you can find at the same store, and try to get all of your shopping done at one mall. If you can consolidate all of your shopping into one or two trips, that’s even better.

-It is better to shop in an earlier time. People sometimes love to shop until the very last minute. If you shop earlier, you’ll have a better selection of gift ideas to choose from, you won’t get stuck in the last-minute rush at the malls and the post office, and you’ll be able to enjoy being done with your holiday responsibilities so you can just enjoy the season. Earlier is also better when you’re talking about what time of day to shop; shopping in the morning, if at all possible, tends to be a good way to avoid crowds, find displays in better order, and enjoy a less stressed atmosphere.

-You can also do some shopping online. While there are some things many people aren’t comfortable buying online, there are many terrific holiday gifts to be found at your computer. Online shopping is a fast, simple, and efficient way to get the bulk of your shopping done at once. In addition to saving you the fights over parking spaces and the long waits in lines, in many cases you can have your gifts wrapped and delivered directly to your family and friends, saving yourself the trouble of wrapping and the visit to the post office!

Here are some tips that might be helpful while shopping:

*If you find a great gift at a great price, consider getting one for several people on your list, if it fits their tastes. This is a great way to save time and money.

*Ask for gift receipts at the register, and include them with your gifts when you wrap them. That way, you’ll have peace of mind knowing that if what you got doesn’t work for your recipient, they can easily exchange it.

*If you really need things to be simple, gift cards and certificates are a great option. You can find gift cards for everything from movies to dinners to massages now, and they’re quick to buy and easy to send. They still offer sweet sentiments to your loved ones, buy make the shopping much simpler for you.

*Rather than bringing all of your gifts to the post office and standing in the long lines, you can now get them to come to you! Visit the USPS website to find out how easy it is to get a postal carrier to come to your door, pick up your packages, and deliver them for you.

(Philippines) Batasan Congress blast killed 2 people, other injured

Manila, Philippines - A bomb explosion at an entrance of the House of Representatives in Quezon City on Tuesday evening killed three people, including Basilan Rep. Wahab Akbar, and injured at least seven others. The National Police and the Armed Forces immediately went on full alert.President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo ordered Director General Avelino Razon, National Police chief, to personally lead the investigation of the explosion. The President said Razon should "submit periodic reports as warranted."In a nationwide telecast late Tuesday evening, the President called for sobriety.Director Geary Barias, chief of the National Capital Region Police Office, said the driver of Gabriela party-list Rep. Luzviminda Ilagan was also killed in the explosion. The driver was identified as Marcial Talbo.Maan Bustalino, a staff member of Negros Oriental Rep. Pryde Henry Teves, who was also injured in the explosion, expired while being transfered from Malvar General Hospital on Commonwealth Avenue to the St. Luke's Medical Center on E. Rodriguez Sr. boulevard. She was rerouted to the Capitol Medical Center on Quezon Avenue instead where she was pronounced dead. Bustalino, who is from Dumaguete City, is in her mid-30's.

The explosion went off as the House ended its session at past 8 p.m."At this point in time I'm saying it's a bomb, but I can't say what type of bomb," said Razon.Police investigators suspect the bomb might have been placed on one of two parked motorcycles then remotely detonated as Akbar approached his car, fatally wounding him and ripping the motorcycles apart, Barias said."It looks like Congressman Akbar was the target," Barias said.Akbar, a former governor of Basilan province and reportedly a former member of the Abu Sayyaf group, had claimed he was a target of his former comrades. Some security officials have suspected that Akbar knew the leaders of the Abu Sayyaf, a Muslim radical group that has its roots on Basilan island. But they said he later had a falling out with Abu Sayyaf commanders and started fighting them.Akbar also had political opponents, including those that ran against one of his wives who succeeded him as governor of Basilan.

The bomb went off as drivers were picking up lawmakers and their staff and damaged a number of cars outside the south wing entrance to the Batasan Pambansa building."I felt the blast although I was on the other side of the building. The ceiling of the canopy near the south wing entrance came down," Rep. Teodoro Casino told The Associated Press.Rep. Joel Villanueva of the party-list Citizen's Battle Against Corruption said he was at the south wing of the building when he heard a "very loud explosion." Witnesses said they saw a van and one or two vehicles burning after the explosion. Razon said a destroyed motorcycle was found and experts were conducting chemical swabs on it to find out if it was used to carry the bomb.Police cordoned off the massive House complex in suburban Quezon City shortly after the explosion."If this is terrorist action or work of an anarchist I'm sure it was deliberately done to cow us," House Speaker Jose de Venecia told reporters at the site.Political tensions are high in the country. President Arroyo is facing a third impeachment complaint in as many years."We cannot rule out anything until the investigation is completed," De Venecia said. Ops! Dont throw your old clothes. RECYCLE THEM!

You dont know what to do with your old clothes that just keep filling up inside your cabinet. You can't remember when was the last time you wear your old faded pants that you bought last year. How about your favorite shirt that got stains? You want to get rid of your old boots because there is a new sytle of boots at the mall today and want to have a new style but you dont know what to do with your old one. Don't worry, here are some solutions for that, you just have to be a little imaginative at this time. Just recycle them!
* You can do a lot of things with your jeans or pants. Either you can convert them to skirt, capris, purse, or short shorts depending on what your styles is. In that way, instead of buying new short you were able to reconstruct a new items and extend their use.
* You can create a great design with your stained or torn shirts. Isn't it you have some old handkerchief, or any kind of fabric that you may think will be a great design for your shirt and hide a stain or tear? Just be creative in cutting them. You can also use fusible web to create one of a kind shirts from store-bought shirts. Who knows, this might become your sideline to make money..isnt it?
* How about your boots? Dont throw them, just convert them into a small purse. Just add strap viola..you have now a leather purse! Just dont forget to use a heavy duty scissors to cut the top of the boots. This will be the body of your purse. Set it from inside out and saw around the edge to create the purse body. You can add more styles on your leather purse. Just be creative and you will surely enjoy your finishes products.
* If you dont know that to do with your overalls and dress convert them into smock. Just cut off the back of the pants and cut the straps off the back of the overalls. Cut and sew together the seam between the legs and sew up the sides of the overalls to create the smock. Sew the straps together but be sure to test the length of the straps first.
***Most people trying to clear out their closets think they only have two options for the clothes: donations or trash. But some clothes are in such bad shape, organizations such as Goodwill and Salvation Army then must deal with them. In fact, on the Goodwill's list of do's and dont's for donating, it asks people not to donate broken or soiled items. Textiles such as clothes, towels, shoes, handbags and curtains account for between 4%-6% of residential waste, only 15% of which finds its way to being recycles. That's about 2.6 billion pounds. And more than 60% of this is exported. Used clothing in this country's 8th largest export item behind automotive parts and wheat - source: US Department of Commerce ****

You first job..your first time interview..are you prepared??

You just graduated from college and you were eager to find a job and be in a corporate world. But everytime you think of that interview, your body shiver because you dont know if the interviewer will hire you or not. When me and my former classmates in college went for an interview I guessed we thought that we were already prepared that time but as a first time job seekers, we were not equipped with all the things that we should need during the interview. Then after 4 months, I landed a job in a planning department in a electronics company and we need to have a new personnel to handle other stuff. Then I realized that going to that battle, an applicants should fully prepared.
Here are tips for those applicants who will have their first time interview.
1. Not all college students finished their course but you were so give yourself a pat at the back and some credit for completing your college and graduated.
2. List all the things that you have to offer to the company you were applying for. List all your personal achievements, academic achievement or even those volunteer works. List also the job that you worked before while you were still in college or before you went to college. Dont forget your on the job training and some part-time job.
3. Prepare to tell about yourself to the interviewer. For sure, He/She will ask it. Tell about your strenght, your positive attitude, what kind of person you are and what your family and friends can tell about you.
4. Ask your friends, your relatives, your brother or sisters about their job experience so that you can get some ideas from them.
5. Familiarize yourself with the types of questions that will be ask in an interview. There are many books and websites that offer "sample questions" that will be asked in the interview. You should think about some of the answers you will give to the basic questions. Also be aware of the different types of questions – general questions, behavioral questions, situational/hypothetical questions.
7. Dont iterrupt the interviewer while he/she is asking you. Finished them first and prepare yourself to answer them professionally.
8. Regardless of what you are applying for, look professional and presentable during the interview. Invest in a nice interview outfit. It should be the best quality that you can afford. Or, go to a consignment shop and buy a second-hand garment that fits well and is of good quality. You appearance will add points to your resume.
9. It's OK to be nervous. Almost everyone gets nervous when they interview. It's OK to be nervous. This is a new experience and you may have to go to a few interviews to get the hang of the process.
10. Always practice. Practice makes perfect. Ask your family member will act as an interviewer so that it will build you more confidence during the actual interview.
11. Always smile. Even you are feeling nervous, show your best smile.

It is ok to wear sexy during cold weather when you go to bed

Wow! Its getting colder and colder everyday but it is not ok to wear those thick clothes when we go to bed isnt it?. Last week, we went to Gottschalks to buy some pajamas because I dont have much pajamas. We saw cute, sexy and maternity pajamas. They were on sale that time and we had a good deal with our stuff. I like to wear cute, warm and silk pajamas. It feels comfortable and warm even if it is cold inside the house. Sometimes Im doing some officework wearing my pajamas but I try not to make it a habit.
Did you know that pajamas can bring out a more sexy side of you?
If you’re like most of us, you sleep in something along the lines of a comfortable t-shirt and a pair of sweats. Give yourself a little pick-me-up with cute and sexy nighties, and wear them around the house just for kicks. Try a baby-doll or a strappy silk confection that clearly wasn’t meant to be slept in. Silk pajamas are fun for lounging, and even an old-fashioned embroidered cotton nightgown can put you in a different frame of mind. As you’re getting into bed, swap your play-clothes for — you guessed it — that comfy T-shirt and those soft, old sweats.
I checked some pajamas online and I came accross with this site. They offer Free delivery. Not bad, huh! If you are a busy person and dont have much time to go out and shop, you can check their website. You can choose from a simple designs to a sexy ones. The best thing about this, you can personalized your own pajamas. You can also send it as a gift for your family and friends.
You can check some of their sexy and fun styles. They have everything that will match your styles and comfort level.

Tired of having a big zit on your face??? I am!!!!

Last month I had a very huge zit in my left face. My husband was making fun of it everyday so what I dit was popped it but it got worst!!! After 2 weeks it healed a bit but the dark spot was still there. I ordered an acne cream from Riteaid but it didnt help a lot. Every time I look at my face in the mirror this huge dark spot is the thing that I've always noticed. Sometimes I got pimples right on top of my nose. I remembered last time that it was near christmas and I had a huge zit on top of my nose and my classmates were teasing me about it and said that I look like a 'red rose raindeer", not only that, I always had zit on my porehead. They said that diet can cause you to have acne. I guessed they are right. Now I bought again another cream from drugstore.com last week and I can see that my face is happy now.
There are simple ways to get rid of acne and here are the things that might help you get rid of your acne too.
* Dont wash your face more than 3 times a day just because you thought that the dirt in your face caused you to have zit. You can't wash your acne away by washing your face more than 3time a day. Frequent washing can lead to dry skin and irritated acne. Your skin will respond best to kind attention. Gently wash your face no more than twice a day with a mild cleanser and pat your skin dry with a clean towel. You can wash your face after you exercise hard.
* Gently massage your face if you are washing it. Use a mild cleanser.
* Don't try to pop your pimples..look what happend when I tried to popped it! Sometimes we are tempted to scratch, pick, squeeze or pop it, but the consequences just are not worth it. You run the risk of pushing the bacteria from the pimple further into the skin and causing more breakouts.

Popping a pimple may also cause brown or red scars to appear that can last for months. In severe acne cases popping pimples may cause dents and pits that can last forever.
* When purchasing cosmetics, sunscreen or other skin care products, make sure the label reads noncomedogenic. These products, as well as those labeled nonacnegenic, won't clog your pores and therefore won't cause or make your acne worse.
* Be patient. Healing takes time. Unfortunately this doesn't happen overnight. Results are generally seen in a few weeks, but may take up to 8 weeks or more. Don't be tempted by over night promises. So give your acne treatment a fighting chance.
* Many acne medications contain ingredients that can make your skin extra sensitive to sunlight and ultraviolet light from tanning booths. Read the label warnings, avoid tanning booths, and always use a sunscreen with at least an SPF of 15. Sun exposure can actually irritate acne even if you are not using an acne medication. So don't make sunbathing a part of your lifestyle and always use sunscreen.
* Remember that many over-the-counter acne treatments contain active ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. Too much of either of these can cause your skin to become excessively dry or irritated. It can take time for your skin to adapt to new medications. Remember that it may take up to 8 weeks for any acne medication to have a noticeable effect. Use the medication exactly as directed by your doctor and if you don't see an improvement within 8 weeks talk with your dermatologist.
* Visit your dermatologist if you are having a hard time treating your acne successfully. A dermatologist will be able to evaluate your individual skin type and recommend an acne treatment that is best for you.
* As mush as possible, dont try to touch your face. Our hands have oil on them and of course bacteria too, both of which can make acne worse. So avoid touching your face or leaning your chin on your hand. Be sure that other objects that come in contact with your face are clean.
* If your hair is long enough to touch your face, you'll want to wash it as often as necessary to keep the oils away. If you can't avoid hair sprays or gels altogether, try to keep them and your hair away from your face because they can clog pores.
* Don't let the fact that you suffer from acne make you feel down. It is a common symptom that everyone suffers from even adults. Having the right approach and mental attitude to the problem will also help you get rid of acne
* Diet is very important to fend away the symptoms of acne. Stay away from junk food like crisps, chips, hamburgers etc. These are full of saturated fats that will make your acne worse. Aim to take low calorie food which are low in fat. And also make sure that you take plenty of vitamins and eat foods full of anti-toxins that will actually help you get rid of acne naturally.
* The last is get enough sleep. Your skin heals itself when you sleep. Your entire body heals itself in your sleep. A night without sleep may lead to more pimples. Make it a habit to leave your worries behind and get a good night’s sleep. Work out more earlier in the day. Get some exercise before evening. It helps.

Some Tips on how to prevent Allergies

Most people know that spring is the prime time for allergies to flourish, many do not realize that sniffling, sneezing, congestion and wheezing in the fall may be due to allergies, not a cold. If you live in the United States chances are you will have allergies.
I am a person who really dont get allergy but when I came here in the US and experienced my first spring allergy it was really the worst allergy that I can tell. At first, I felt itchy all over my body then the next day, I noticed that my legs and arms were full of red patches, so I thought I had measles so I got worried. I tried lot of anti-itch medicine but they didnt worked. Then the next couples of days, my body were covered with red patches and it was really really itchy and the bad things was I cant sleep at night because I keep waking up just to scratched it. My skin was look like a sausage skin. It tooks 2 weeks before they disappeared.

This time of the year especially in temperature climates that experience autumn a little later and longer, medical professionals deal most with problems aggravated by pollens and mold spores.

Around 50 million Americans suffer from allergies and that's why allergies are listed as the 6th leading cause of chronic disease in this country. Allergies are estimated to cost the health care system about $18billion a year and $3.8 million in lost work and schoold days per year.

The most common types of Allergy are Ragweed, Dust mites, Rye, Cockroaches. But allergies are nothing to sneeze at. We can prevent having an allergies with this simples tips:

1. Keep your windows closed at night to prevent pollens or molds from drifting into your home.

2. Wash bedding once a week in hot water, it will help get rid of dust mites and other pollen particles that allergy trigers.

3. Try to minimize early morning activity outside when pollen is usually emitted. Try to spend more time indoors.

4. Keep your home a dust free as possible.

5. Keep your car windows closed at all time and when travelling.

6. If you spend time outside, try to changed your clothes and take a shower when you come home to remove pollen and other allergies.

7.Do take a vacation during the height of the pollen season to more pollen free area such as beach or sea.

8. Don't hang your clothes or sheets outside. It may collect pollens and molds.

9. Don't grow too many indoor plants if you are allergic to mold. Wet soil encourages mold growth.

10. Keep pet out of the bedrooms. Sometimes their hair collect pollens and mold.

Constant habits that can risk your health

We like to think that we will always be healthy and in good shape in our younger years. Go out with friends, party, stay out late and lie out int he sun to wour on our tan. Women wear 3 inches heels to work or when go shopping, charge our meals on high interest credit card that we just newly renewed and go to bed late. Nobody can stop us because it is not of their business. But 20 years down the line, as our cakes start looking more like flares, something begins to set in. As life would have it, the things we do in our 20's affect how we look and feel 10-40 years later. Some expert insist that habits we form as young adults become the foundation for the rest of our lives, so why not set a good example for yourself when you're younger?

Wearing high heels everyday is one of the habits we should care about. Women love to wear heels. But our body will not be used to it. Squeezing your feet all the time into narrow high heel shoes and proceeding to teeter on a pinpoint heel the entire day is hard on everything except, maybe your self-esteem. Wearing heels everyday for hours can shorten and stiffen tendons and in extreme cases, irreversibly damage them. Stilettos are often responsible for back pain, shoulder pain and joint pain.

Carrying big bag is another one. Women love to carry their bathroom closet in their purses, but consider the consequences. Carrying extra weight will eventually lead to back and neck pain at which point you will need corrective exercises or shoes. Either pare down what you cart around, or get a smaller bag that will not hurt your back in a long run.

You are in a party and there are lots of drinks to choose from. You dont have to pay for your drinks so you dont care how much you can drink for that night. Dont abuse them because they will only get your belts expands and your heart at risk. Too much drinking have higher risks of injury and violence.

You look like an ashtray every time you are smoking but not only that it affect your skin and health. Wrinkles, stained teeth, lung cancer, that dirty ashtray around you and that bad smell that keep following you around even you just took a shower. And the real kicker is the longer you do it, the harder it is to quit. Besides the health risks, smoking also works like the sun on your skin, making your look 30 years older than you are.

Ops, dont forget also girls..that tanning is another habit that can give trouble later. dont forget that tanning equals wrinkles and dry skin. So before you go out always wear sunscreen and if not, your risks of aging are huge. You must apply sunscreen at least 20 minutes before you go out under the sun. Yeah, it is great to look good with our tan color..but remember we need to keep our skin from getting skin cancer.

Some reasons why you are not losing weight

You are not losing weight even you work out harder for the most simple of reasons because you're eating the wrong foods, the wrong types of calories per meal and you're also eating meals in the wrong patterns each day. Food is more powerful than any weight loss pills in the market today because the food that you eat can either make you thin or fat. You don't get fat because of a lack of exercising that's a myth. You get fat because you don't eat the right foods at the right intervals each day. Also the pattern that you choose to eat your meals each day is more powerful than any prescription weight loss pills. This is true because your body is like an engine and it only needs certain foods at certain amount of time and if you don't eat the right foods at the right times then it won't burn those calories and you'll wind up storing those calories as fat tissue. You have gotten overweight by eating the wrong foods, that much is a fact. And guess what? You can get slim down by eating the right food at the right time each day. It's not really any more complicated than that, and the way to start losing weight has nothing to do with starving yourself or jogging.

So, you are really trying to slim down and you list all the foods you will buy at the grocery..and mostly..you will buy stuff that are low in fats, low in carb and low in calories..but before you do that..think of this things...

Eating Low calorie really doesnt work if you are trying to lose weight. The reason you cannot lose weight by starving yourself (using a low calorie diet) is because your metabolism will detect any major drop in calories and it will then adjusted itself by burning fewer calories each day. So, dont starve yourself to death by skipping meals everyday.

Another thins is eating Low Fat dies will not also help you to lose weight. Why? Mostly people in the society today are buying mostly "low fat" or "non fat" food at the grocery store, everybody is conscious of the "fat grams" inside the food they buy. However, people are getting fatter than ever by doing this and people are not losing weight by switching to the "low fat lifestyle". All we need is eat the right food at the right time. Havent you noticed that those low fat or non-fat foods were not available 30 years ago and yet people at the time were not fat? Think about this.

Then, you think that low carbohydrates diet is a good way to lose weight? It will only make you miserable! "Low carb" diets have certainly become popular in recent years, but of course those are just thinly disguised starvation diets. If you don't think so then check out these facts below about Atkins.... The Atkins Diet limits your carb intake to ONLY 20 grams of "net carbs" per day during the first phase of the diet......which means that you cannot even eat a single large apple during the first phase of the Atkins Diet (since even a large apple has more than 20 grams of net carbs). ...And if you want to continue through all of the phases of the Atkins Diet, then it will take another 4 MONTHS (16 weeks) before you'll be allowed to eat just 400 carb calories per day -- and any typical restaurant meal has more carbs than that. So this is really just another form of starving yourself (and making yourself MISERABLE), which is not the answer.

Best Medicine is not in your Medicine Box..Check it out!

You visited your family doctor for check-up because you were not feeling well, depressed, stressed and tired. Then he prescribed you a certain medicine for your depression. Then you went to you nearest drugstore to buy what he prescribed or buy it online because you dont want to go out and just stay at home. Then you followed what your doctor's advised but you are not satisfied or not getting any better with that medicine.
Then you were watching some comedy show on TV and then without you noticing it..you were laughing with your heart out with this show. Then a couple of day you think you feel better already.
There are always a saying that "Laughter is the best medicine". The idea of using laughter and humor for healing has been around since ancient time. They have long recognized the power of humor to help us to feel better. There have a lot of studies about health problems with laughter theraphy.
* Laughter increases the activity of our immune system which helps us to fight respiratory infections.
* Laughter increases natural killer cells that protect us from cancer and viral infections. One study shows that 15 minutes of watching funny videos produced positive immune changes that will lst for 12 hours.
*. Laughter relax and dilate our blood vessels, protecting us from heart disease and lowering our blood pressures.
* Laughter forces us to breathe more deeply and many help uss to clean mucus from the respiratory organs. This can be beneficial for people with respiratory problems.
* Laughter also may boost endorphin production which is our body's own natural painkiller.
* Laughter reduces our stress hormons.
So..go ahead and rent comedy movies and watch it with your family - shout your heart out!!!!

Watch your kid's weight with this simple tips

We were looking at sunday newspaper last time and came accross with the topic about School opening with kids pictures. I didnt paid much attention with the pictures until my husband told me that most of the kids in the pictures were fats and obese. So he asked me to look for a kids who were not fat in the pictures and I cant tell who among the kids there were healthy. Most of the parents dont care how their kids look like or how their health will be in the future. Some parents think that having a far kids looks cute and healthy. They're wrong. Then I was watching last time the Maury's shows and their guests were kid around 3-12 years old and weight more than my weight. Imagine, a little kid who was 5 years old and weight more than a 200 pounds? Think of the health issues, hospital bills and clothes that need to personally made just for them.
Today kid's generation are more overweight than ever. Why?? because of these processed foods that is always ready around the corner. They also eat junk food, play video whole day inside their house and dont have exercise. For them doing exercise is only for an adults.
So before you start your day..think of the things that you can let your kids have an interaction with you for them to keep moving. Here are some stuff that you and your kids can watch weight and keep it off.

1. Is your kids school just around the block or just a walking distance away? Why not walk there with your kids - remember it is good for you too. Then after your kid's class meet them outside for sure, they will be happy to see you and also a great way to talk about what is coming up and what happened during the day.

2. Ask your kids join you while folding clothes, setting the tables, washing the dishes, cleaning the house, cleaning the yard, let them take out the trash or assign them with every chores. It may not seem like the most calorie-burning activities but every little action helps. Plus you are doing it together. Then you can treat them to the mall after.

3. Dont let just take the dogs out by yourself..take your kids too. Let them hold the leash and guide them how to walk the dogs outside. Remember, once the dog get tired, for sure, your kid will get tired too. This is a good bonding time with for your family and pets.

4. Let your kids mingle with other kids around your neighborhood. You can meet them at the park. For sure, if your kids have friends, they will likely play outside rather sit at home and watch TV.

5. If your kids rather just want to sit inside your house, encourage them to play outside. Buy them something that they can play like soccer ball and baseball and go biking.
Isnt it feel good that your kids are healthy all the time? Think of it...

WHAT ARE THE BEST FIREWORKS DISPLAY?

Every 5th of November in UK is known as Fireworks Night or Bonfire Night. Fireworks Night celebrates an attempt to blow up the Houses of Parliament in 1605 that went wrong - the 'Gunpowder Plot'. On 5 November that year, Catholic terrorists smuggled 36 barrels of gunpowder into a cellar there. They hoped to bring down the government. However, they were caught just in time, and executed in a very slow and grisly manner. So they celebrate this day every year with fireworks. Some of them celebrate the fact that they failed. Others celebrate the fact that they nearly succeeded.
Fireworks Night is also called 'Guy Fawkes Night'. Guy (or Guido) Fawkes was only a minor member of the terrorist group, the man who was going to light the fuse; the leader was called Robert Catesby. But Robert Catesby is a boring name. It sounds like an estate agent or a solicitor. Guy Fawkes is an intriguing, mysterious-sounding secret agent's name, so they remember him instead.
Here are the list of Best Fireworks Ever!
>Fireworks - Largest Catherine Wheel. A self-propelled vertical firework wheel 25.95m 85ft in diameter was designed by the Newick Bonfire Society Ltd and fired for at least one revolution on 30 Oct 1999 at the Village Green, Newick, East Sussex, UK.

>Largest firework display. The record for the largest firework display consisted of 66,326 fireworks and was achieved by Macedo'S Pirotecnia Lda. in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal, on 31 December 2006.
>Longest firework waterfall. The world's longest firework waterfall was the 'Niagara Falls', which measured 3,125.79 m when ignited on 24 August 2003 at the Ariake Seas Fireworks Festival, Fukuoka, Japan.
>Most firework rockets launched in 30 seconds. The record for the most firework rockets launched in 30 seconds is 56,405, in an attempt organised by Dr Roy Lowry , at the 10th British Firework Championship in Plymouth, UK, on 16 August 2006.
>Largest bonfire. The largest bonfire had an overall volume of (49,497 ft³). The bonfire was built by Colin Furze in Thistleton, Leicestershire, UK, and lit on 14 October 2006.
>Tallest bonfire. The world's tallest bonfire tondo measured high, with a base of 86 ft² and an overall volume of 28,251 ft. The event was organised by Kure Commemorative Centennial Events Committee, and lit on 9 February 2003 at Gohara-cho, Hiroshima, Japan, as part of a traditional ceremony to encourage good health and a generous harvest.

Yard Sale Stuff you can buy for your home

You can see every corner of the streets here in Riverside a sign of "YARD SALE" every Saturday and Sunday. It is not bad to check what they have and who knows that you need something for your house that they have and they are selling it for only $1-$10. What a good deal, isnt it???
Now you are thinking to shop some new furniture, toys, garage stuff for your husband, clothes, and other things that you need for your home withought spending thousand of dollars??
The solution is just a short drive away, sitting in your neighbor's front yard. Stop at any the yard sales around your neighbor early in the morning so that you can see what they have. Yard sale is height during summer, it seems like everyone is.
You can check your local paper too every Friday; there will be a section in the classified ads. Mark the ones that sound promising and drive by and check them out just get in the car on Saturday or Sunday morning and follow the signs. Dont worry you will not get lost.
When you are ready for yard sale action, make sure you're dressed for comfort. Comfortable shoes are important. Have an umbrella in the car, just in case ( most yard sale just lay down their stuff on the grass). Bring along some boxes and some newspaper or bubble wrap for your items, remember that the sellers might not have the packaging to protect your fragile items.

If you're going yard sale that listed in the newspaper, prepare yourself for some disappointments. Because some sellers want to draw more shoppers to their yard. Some will have a sign of "Huge Yard Sale" but when you arrived there, there is nothing you can buy. And some Yard sale only consist old clothing and toys. A useful recycling function, certainly, but it doesn't help in your home decorating project. Identify what your tastes are. If you're concern of a good buy and elegant surroundings, try the more upscale neighborhoods in your community. Yes, these families have yard sales too, and they are more likely to be disposing of good condition, and good furniture because they bought a new one for their home improvement rather than because the stuff are worn out.

If you like international stuff and there is a military base within driving distance, hit the yard sales where the military families live. These folks have traveled the world and brought a lot of it back with them. Oriental furnishings and home decorator accents can be found at these yard sales. German steins, Middle Eastern brassware and camel, Italian large ceramics, Hawaiian tikis and shell hangings, African masks and drums; the yard sales of military families are like an international bazaar.

If your tastes are vintage and primitive, the place to go is farm country. Here you'll want to check the newspaper, because the yard sales will be spaced further apart. But this is the region to look for the 1950s print tableclothes, the heavy crockery mixing bowls, and the cookie jar just like Grandma's. Remember repurposing and go saling with an open mind and an open eye.
How much planning should you do? Should you know already what you want to be, or should you fill the trunk of the car with stuff you love and figure out what to do with it when you get home? Well, it all depends on decorating perspective. Make a list of things that is important for your home decorating. Enjoy yard sailing!!!

King Tut Egyptian Mummy goes public under glass

King Tut's buck-toothed face was unveiled Sunday for the first time in public. More than 3,000 years ago after the youngest and most famous pharaoh to rule ancient Egypt was shrouded in lined and buried in his golden underground tomb. Archeologists headed by Dr. Zahi Hawass carefully lifted the fragile mummy out of a quartz sarcophagus decorated with stone-carved protective goddesses, momentarily pulling aside a beige covering to reveal a leathery black body.

The linen was then replaced over Tut's narrow body so only his face and tiny feet were exposed and the 19 year old king, whose life and death has captivated people for nearly a century was moved to a simple glass climate-controlled case to keep it from turning to dust. The mystery surroundings King Tutankhamun who ruled during the 18th dynasty and ascended to the throne at the age 8 and his glittering gold tomb has entranced ancient Egypt fans since Carter first discovered the hidden tomb, revealing a trove of fabulous gold and precious stone treasures and propelling the once forgotten pharaoh of ancient time.

He was the most powerful, important and well known pharoah in Egypt. For a long time, the cause of King Tutankhamun death was still unknown and still in the root of much speculations. In 2005, scientist removed Tut's mummy from his tomb and placed it into a portable CT scanner for 15 minutes to obtain a 3D image. The scans were the first done on a Egyptian mummy. The results ruled out that King Tut was violently murdered but stopped short of definitively concluding how he died.

How to choose the perfect pair of jeans?

Ahhh...that denim dilemma. Sometimes it hard for me not to look at those people who were wearing jeans. Some likes to wear tight, loose, straight and low waist jeans. But some did not really looks good on them. Last time when I went to the mall to buy a pair of jeans I was immediately overwhelmed with all the choices. It is quite possible that most people could have more jeans that genes. Then I tried some styles and sizes but some didnt fit me and Im sure some of you experienced this also.

So here are some of the tips when you buy your next paif of jeans/
* First decide whether you are looking for skinny leg, straight leg, boot-cut or trouser cut (wide cut) jeans. Choose also between dark wash or a light wash. But for the younger ones this is the best one for them. Think about what details you want. Keep the sequins, rhinestones, crystals, fringe and grommets to a minimum. If you want a shapelier one..look for a jeans with yokes or stretchable ones. If you have a bit of a tummy, look for a jeans cut higher in the back than the front in a boot-cut fit. The proper length of your jeans should be just touching the shoe when you stand. This will depend a great deal on which shoes you plan on wearing the jeans with.

High-washed jeans are great for high lightingan hourglass figure. For this seasons, skinny leg are on the outs while trouser-cut jeans are coming into their own. When washing turn your jeans inside out and add a little vinegar to maintain color.

Daylight Saving Time

Dont forget to change you clock tomorrow for Daylight Saving Time. I remember that in the Philippines we practiced this DST when I was a teenager. I dont know what we didnt do it now. For sure it a bit confusing because our biological clock will adjust too.

Here in the US they changed their clock for DST. One of the biggest reason for changing the clock is that it saves energy. DST "makes" the sun "set" one hour later and therefore reduces the period between sunset and bedtime by one hour. This means less electricity would be used for lighting and appliances late in the day.

When I first arrived here in the US, it gets dark after 8pm. Now winter is coming, it gets dark around 6pm so that is why DST is really helpful if you want to save energy!

Southern California Fire!!!!

A friend of ours sent this photo of a fire in Southern California. It was taken from the Dana Point Area. We own a place there which is our vacation rentals for tourists from all over the world. I couldn't imagine myself being so near to that fire. It resembles hell! When we visited our place last October 26, all of the streets, houses, buildings and trees were full of ashes. One of our friends told us that it was like Armageddon. Oh my God!!! Is God punishing us already????

But life still moves on for those who were affected with this fire. This fire brings memories of our house that was burned on the day of Ash Wednesday in 2003. I was at work during that time and my sister sent me a text message that there was a fire in our place. Then right from our office building I could see the smoke. I almost got in an accident trying to cross the street so fast so that I could go home immediately and check on my parents, brothers and sisters. When I arrived at the place I saw all of our neighbors were on the street crying and just watching their house being burned. There was nothing else we could do but to just watch it. I could not find my family because there were lots of people on the streets. Some were just passers-by who just want to see what's going on, and some were lotters. Then I saw my family at the corner of the concrete house far from the burning area. That was the worst thing that I've ever seen! My father just had his mild stroke due to high blood preassure and we worried so much about him. My sister just able to save our refrigerator, TV, electric fan, and some clothes. Then most of my officemates came over to support me and donate clothes and money so that we can start all over again.

They said that it is better to be robbed by someone in your home because you still have something, rather than be affected by fire because you will lose everything!!!

How I wish those people who were affected will be more strong.
